Lost.Canberra

A photographic record of the capital that was.

Before the wide boulevards and modernist monuments, there were humble settlements, dusty streetscapes, and modest shopfronts — the everyday Canberra that quietly disappeared beneath the planned city we know today.

This is a visual archive of what lies buried under the present: the vanished towns, timber shops, dirt roads, and communities that formed the foundation of Australia's capital — often literally built straight on top of.

We dig through the layers to bring these lost scenes back into the light.

Come get lost in history.
